By partnering with Correctional Medical Services, Inc. (CMS) you’ll benefit from experience no other healthcare provider can match. In our 30 years in the correctional healthcare field, we have led the industry with innovative clinical programs that address the unique needs of our patients and healthcare professionals.
Innovative clinical programs for improving inmate patient care
CMS has taken a proactive approach to improving the inmate population’s overall health. Our programs serve to:
- Promote the application of evidence-based guidelines and principles for patient care delivery
- Manage diseases – not incidents – resulting in measurably superior outcomes for certain diseases including diabetes, cardiac related conditions and cancer
- Provide dedicated in-house pharmacy services for improved accuracy and efficiency
- Integrate mental health and substance abuse treatment
- Create and manage electronic medical records for care delivery
- Reduce the need to transport inmates off site with quality on-site care and Telehealth services
Specialized support for correctional healthcare professionals
We provide extensive resources and mentoring for the unique correctional healthcare environment. CMS’ unique Director of Nurses Mentoring program is one example of the corporate support offered to field nursing leaders. This program seeks to identify, develop and promote nursing leadership company-wide. Through one-on-one and group meetings, nurse leaders focus on staff retention, job satisfaction and succession planning.
In addition, Clinical Programs personnel work one-on-one with site nursing and business leaders from the initiation of the contract to provide a solid foundation upon which to build successful site functions. Issues such as intake, chronic care clinic and sick call management, medication administration, and accurate record-keeping are the focus of initial and ongoing process improvement. The Nursing Leadership Council (NLC), comprised of all nursing leaders within the company, acts as an advisory group to the company, and works to implement evidence-based recommendations and improve the delivery of care.
Superior care recognized by national accreditation organizations
We have worked in partnership with our clients to achieve a 100% success rate in receiving and maintaining national accreditation through the National Commission on Correctional Healthcare and/or the American Correctional Association.
