LearnCenter™
CMS prides itself on providing staff with the best possible resources in order to fulfill our healthcare mission. In keeping with that tradition, we have deployed an on-line learning management system called LearnCenter™ to the correctional healthcare market. This innovative system enables us to leverage the power of the Internet to deliver comprehensive professional development instruction to our field employees throughout the country. Currently, over 200 different courses are available to managers on a variety of professional development topics, with an additional 100 courses specifically for frontline staff. LearnCenter™ will help ensure our healthcare managers have complete access to the latest materials necessary to be successful on the job.
Online Nursing Continuing Education (CE) Program
This unique program serves our 3,000 nurses nationwide with standalone course modules on general nursing topics, as well as customized courses specific to Correctional Nursing developed by company clinical managers. Many state nursing boards require RNs and LPNs to complete 15-25 CE credit units annually for licensure renewal. Yet, nurses say they can find it difficult to locate and complete CE units on their own. CMS' new CE program serves the needs of our nurses by allowing them to complete education requirements on-site through the CMS Learn Center, with no out-of-pocket costs.
CMS Correctional Healthcare Manager Program
Health Services Administrators, Directors of Nursing (DONs) and other managers complete our unique Correctional Healthcare Manager Program.
This program includes 80 hours of customized on-site instruction, 12
hours of web-based leadership orientation, and a 40-hour training session at
CMS corporate headquarters. Training sessions focus on three integral elements of the correctional healthcare management function: providing quality patient care, leading people effectively and managing costs appropriately.
Certified Correctional Health Professionals (CCHP) Program
Many of our healthcare professionals become Certified Correctional Health Professionals (CCHP), an industry designation demonstrating a mastery of national standards and expertise in the field of correctional healthcare. The certification is offered by the National Commission on Correctional Healthcare (NCCHC).
