Physicians working with Correctional Medical Services, Inc. (CMS) are provided an excellent orientation program to ensure they are well-prepared for success in correctional medicine. The Provider Information Program features an introduction to correctional healthcare protocols, along with hands-on mentoring at the field location. Most physicians join us with primary care experience, but little or no prior experience in correctional medicine, so the program serves as a valuable introduction to practicing in this unique environment.
Providers are also supported after orientation. With more than 400 physician colleagues now working with CMS, new physicians have access to this extensive network of seasoned, experienced correctional physicians for mentoring and care consultation. This includes the opportunity to consult with other physicians at CMS who have experience in a variety of specialties.
