CMS Vice President to Lead Academy of Correctional Health Professionals

Ralf Salke, Vice President of Operations in Missouri for Correctional Medical Services, Inc. (CMS), was elected Chair of the Academy of Correctional Health Professionals during the organization’s recent National Conference on Correctional Health in Orlando October 17-21, 2009.

Salke, a seven-year member of the organization and Treasurer since 2004, was nominated to serve as Chair Elect from October 2009 – October 2010 and Chair from October 2010 – October 2011. The Academy is a national, non-profit organization dedicated to the educational and professional development of correctional healthcare professionals. The group sponsors a variety of programs for industry professionals, including a mentorship program, shared interest groups and regional/national correctional healthcare conferences.

“It’s an honor to be recognized by your peers for this position and see the faith they have instilled upon you to lead the organization for the upcoming year,” said Salke.

As Chair of the Academy of Correctional Health Professionals, Salke will be responsible for leading its strategic direction and overseeing the organization’s 13-member Board of Directors. The Board is comprised of seven members elected by its membership, three individuals appointed for their standing in the community or profession, two members of the National Commission on Correctional Healthcare (NCCHC) Board of Directors and service by the NCCHC President ex officio.

The Academy currently has approximately 3000 members across the nation, including more than 100 CMS employees.
